The Welsh Education Partnership
Helping to improve Welsh education infrastructure for future generations by forging sustainable partnerships that deliver lasting community benefits and support long-term economic growth.
The objectives of the WEP programme are to establish a stable and long-term partnership that delivers education and community facilities in line with the Well-being of Future Generations Act, providing demonstrable value for money to the public sector and transparency to national and local stakeholders.
WEPCo’s role is to facilitate the delivery of up to 30 new education facilities (primarily schools and colleges) in Wales using the Mutual Investment Model (MIM) developed by the Welsh Government to finance major capital projects.
Furthermore, the Partnership seeks to develop, invest, and manage projects that offer additional beneficial outcomes for local communities through a bespoke Skills Academy Framework.
For the benefit of… communities
Community benefit is central to all WEPCo-led projects. Delivering high-impact benefits aligned with the Well-being of Future Generations Act and contributing to the UN SDGs, WEPCo builds community into every aspect of project delivery and throughout the whole supply chain.
For the benefit of… businesses
Forging partnerships with local supply chains as part of project delivery, WEPCo promotes knowledge and skill sharing to support economic growth throughout Wales. To help strengthen the construction industry’s supply chain competencies in relation to decarbonisation and innovation, WEPCo also launched the WEP Academi.
For the benefit of… future generations
Projects led by WEPCo are designed as Net Zero Carbon in Operation and focus on quality assurance to ensure excellent build and service delivery. Maintained for 25 years as part of the project programme, the quality of education facilities is protected for future generations.
